Judging Wolves from Sheep | Homily

Fr. David Lugo, SJ celebrated Mass for our Miami Chapter and spoke about how we can spot the wolves among the sheep. There are certain characteristics that are like Christ and there are others that are not. These are the things we should look out for in others and even ourselves.

Cigar Night: Miami Chapter

The Miami Chapter held a cigar night for the Esto Vir Alumni that returned from college. 13 of the alumni came to the ACU House for a meal, cigars, and drinks. They were accompanied by a handful of Agrupados as well. The alumni were able to reconnect with another, connect with the Agrupados, and continue to form a bond with the ACU through cigars and dominoes. Some of the alumni brought their fathers to introduce them to the ACU as well. The Miami Chapter continues to foster a relationship with the alumni of the Esto Vir group to keep the door to the ACU open for them as a community of faith.

2022 Llorente Foundation Scholarship Recipients

Last week, the Miami Chapter held Mass for the first time in the recently completed Our Lady of Belen Chapel. The Father Amando Llorente, S.J., Foundation, Inc. contributed $1 million to the construction of the Chapel through its grant program. It was also the first time that our Director, Fr. Saenz, served as main celebrant at the Chapel.

Esto Vir Group: Miami Chapter

Last Tuesday, May 24th, the Esto Vir Group in Miami held its final meeting of the academic year. The Group hosted 2 alumni on a panel to discuss the transition from high school to college. The panel had a wealth of information to share on topics such as faith, academics, social life, and studying. The panel included one of the ACU Aspirants, Marco Barbosa, class of 2020, currently a member of the UM student group. Marco is studying finance at FIU. The other panel members included:

University of Miami Student Group

The annual Spiritual Exercises for the University of Miami student group were held last Memorial Day weekend. The director was Father Christian A. Saenz, S.J. He was assisted by Father Leo Siqueira, the Catholic Chaplain of the University of Miami. The Exercises took place at the Ignatian Spirituality Center, also known as Casa Manresa, the Jesuit retreat house in Miami.

Shepherd's Table Apostolado

Take a look at the Shepherd’s Table apostolado serving and sponsoring a meal for the homeless. Agrupados and their wives Reemberto and Geraldina, Rod and Teri as well as Sergio and Beatriz all served. Manny Hidalgo is the Executive Director and is the son of Agrupado Manny Hidalgo, SR. It was an incredible success and we will continue to help and use this as an Apostolado for the ACU in Washington.

The Ascension of the Lord | Classic ACU

This Thursday or coming Sunday (depending on your location) the Church in the USA will celebrate the Ascension of the Lord. Here is a 1998 (dedicated to the Holy Spirit by the Catholic Church, in anticipation of the new millennium). ACU records include at least 5 other homilies by Fr. Llorente on this celebration, in this one he includes some Spanish history on the monasteries of Burgos and of Silos, and on Santo Domingo de Guzmán and Santo Domingo de Silos, on his way to delivering the main points of the homily.

Crowning of Mary

This past Sunday, May 15, 2022, the ACU Chapter held its annual Mass for the crowning of Mary. Fr. Saenz celebrated the Mass at the ACU House, wearing the traditional light blue robes. Numerous families attended the Mass. The ceremonial crowning was completed by Katherine, the granddaughter of Benny and Maria Diaz. The families remained for dinner.
