This past Thursday, September 15, 2022, Crist Rey Miami High School officially opened its doors to the inaugural Freshman Class of students! O0ur National President, Luis Sanchez, accompanied by other Agrupados, including Fr. Willie Garcia-Tunon and Julio Villfane, both of whom sit on the Board of Cristo Rey, were in attendance for this joyous event.
On Saturday, September 17, 2022, Congregante, Fr. Rafael Juantorena, S.J., passed away in Baton Rouge, LA, after battling various health complications.
This past weekend 27 men from the Miami Chapter attended the Spiritual Exercises at Manresa directed by Fr. Christian A. Saenz, S.J. The men were challenged to look deeper into the infancy and childhood narratives of the life of Christ and connect with Him in anew.

The Esto Vir Group in Miami held its first meeting of the 2022-2023 academic year last Tuesday, September 6, 2022. We began with a strong start echoing the theme of surrender set by Fr. Willie for the school year. We recorded approximately 25 students at the meeting, which is one of our largest showings.
The ACU’s Young Professionals group in Miami is back from its summer hiatus! They met with Fr. Christian and discussed the 15th chapter of The Penguin History of the Church, which tackled the development of Latin theology.
This week we surprise with a slightly different format, a peek at what the Canonization Commission is striving towards with respect to the cause in favor of Fr. Llorente. Among the documentation (on paper, electronic format is not acceptable) required for a cause are all the writings of the candidate for beatification. There are very few writings of Fr. Llorente in the ACU files, but there are hundreds of homilies. We contend that these are his “writings” — the homilies of a masterful preacher. So, this week, we offer two homilies preached thirty years apart on the same liturgical Feast, that of The Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The homily, of course, is in Spanish and was the first Fr. Llorente homily recorded following the ACU’s exile. It dates from September 3 1962. We also include the homily for the sage liturgical Feast, dated September 18, 1991. Additionally, we include the transcription and its translation into English. As explained earlier, this is one of the goals of the Commission.
