90th Anniversary Celebration
This past weekend Agrupados, family, and friends throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico descended upon Miami to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the ACU. We thank first and foremost the Commission that worked tirelessly for nearly two years to plan the weekend of festivities. Members of the Commission are the following:
There were a handful of individuals that also helped behind the scenes with the food, flowers and setup. We thank all those that contributed.
We are also grateful to our Director, Fr. Saenz, for his guidance and visions. We thank our National president, Luis Sanchez, for his leadership, and the Miami Chapter president, Cesar Guerrero for hosting the events.
As his Eminence Seán Cardinal O'Malley stated in his homily, the Agrupacion offers its members an opportunity to pray and a community within which to lead the Christian life. As he mentioned, both prayer and community are two paths that lead us to holiness. This weekend, the ACU exemplified both of these elements. The ACU family gathered to celebrate Mass in thanksgiving for 90 years and also to receive, in prayer and consecration, 15 new men into the Agrupacion Catolica Universitaria. The ACU family also gathered as a community to recognize and honor those members that have led consecrated life in the ACU for decades and as many as 80 years! We gathered to celebrate friendships formed from a common core commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ. We gather to show gratitude to one another for the prayer and support offered through the hardships and challenges that life brings. We gather to celebrate life, marriages, engagements, children and grandchildren. And lastly, we gather to discern the next 10 years of the ACU. The Lord continues to bless the ACU with fruit as the Spirit continues to usher into our community men desirous of a relationship with our Lord. Let those of us who have been gracious for the last 90 years, take up the responsibility of leading the ACU through the next 10 years.
