Septuagenarian Celebration of Founder's Passing to the ACU Triumphant

The Miami House dedicated the February 12th “guardia sabatina” to Fr. Felipe Rey de Castro, SJ, with a Memorial Mass presided by Fr. CHRISTIAN SÁENZ, SJ, and a dissertation by Fr. SERGIO FIGUEREDO, SJ, on the "spirituality, exquisite formation and extraordinary humility" of ACU’s founder. Meanwhile, Efraín Zabala, on behalf of the ACU, attended a conference in the Jesuit Centro Loyola in Havana for the official inauguration of “Salón P. Felipe Rey de Castro, SJ, just a few feet away from where the future ACU was first convened. The ceremony include a presentation by keynote speaker, Dr. Roberto Méndez, author of a forthcoming biography of ACU’s founder. The following say, Saturday, February 12th, Jesuit Superior in Cuba, Fr. David Pantaleón, SJ, led a visit and blessing at Cementerio de Colón, burial site of Fr. Rey de Castro.

On the morning of Friday, February 11, the Jesuits unveiled an image of Fr. Felipe Rey de Castro S.J., founder and first director of the ACU, on the door of the classroom dedicated to Fr. Rey at the Loyola Reina Center. Congregante Efraín Zabala, in charge of promoting the canonization of Frs, Rey de Castro and Armando Llorente, SJ, was present at said tribute and unveiled the image.

Dr. Roberto Méndez Martínez gave a conference on the life of Fr. Rey de Castro and his work in Cuba, particularly with the ACU. The ceremony was attended by Fr. David Pantaleón S.J., superior of the Company in Cuba and Orgiel Sanzo, Director of the Loyola-Reina Center.
