Guardia Sabatina: Miami Chapter

This past Saturday, October 30, we held the monthly Guardia Sabatina at the ACU House. We were blessed with the presence of Yoyi Betancourt, the Miami Centenarian. Eduardo Gonzalez del Valle led an inspiring presentation on Professionalism, one of the pillars of the ACU. Congregantes must always conduct their professional life with the end goal in mind: are we working just to fulfill our current temporal needs or are we working with the understanding that we are building treasure in heaven?

Eduardo shared numerous poignant examples of turning down clients, reporting unethical business practices, and forgoing a lucrative promotion in order to maintain his priorities of faith and family. Understanding that the salvation of the soul is the Supreme Law, an Agrupado strives to maintain that balance between being in the world, but not of the world. We must desire to excel in all aspects of our life, particularly within our profession, but that desire must be tempered with an understanding of our end and the cultivation of virtues.
