Director and President Visit Puerto Rico Chapter

This past weekend, the Puerto Rico Chapter welcomed our Director, Fr. Christian Saenz, SJ., our President, Luis Sanchez, and the Pastoral Administrator, Erik Vieira, for a Chapter visit. Chapter president Nino Alvarez, SJ, held a special Guardia at the new Chapter location, Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. The group discussed plans for developing formation groups at the local universities and high schools in the San Juan metropolitan area including steps that have been taken in the past months. The group also addressed the possibility of leasing a physical location to serve as a permanent home for the Chapter. Prior to the meeting, Mr. Alvarez briefly showed two potential properties. The Congregantes in Puerto Rico remain energized following the events of the 90th anniversary and are convinced that the Holy Spirit is guiding the Chapter toward growth and the fulfillment of the Mission. Each Congregante at the meeting agreed to take on individual tasks, whether communicating with individuals at universities and high schools, to looking for application properties, and conducting site visits.

On Saturday, Congregate Carlos Rom led a captivating tour of the Museo Puertorriqueño de Antropologia Religiosa (MPAR), which is on the campus of Interamerican University. The Museum displays the unique archeological collection of Fr. Juan Jose Santiago, S.J. on the various world religions with some pieces dating back to predating Greco-Roman history.
