Congregante Frank Salas Recognized for Lectures on Engineering
Congregante Frank Salas hosted two webinars with the engineering department of the Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara, Mexico, known as ITESO (Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente). The webinars were part of a series entitled Viernes de Ingeneria (Engineering Fridays). ITESO was founded in 1957 and has approximately 10,000 enrolled students.
The first webinar was on the bridge constructed over the Zaza River in Cuba. The bridge was completed in 5 months in 1959 and was the first ever segmental post-tensioned bridge in the world. The effort was led by the engineering firm Maria G. Suarez y Arango y Salas, all three were Agrupados. They were joined in their efforts by Alfredo Fernandez, also an Agrupado. The bridge over the Zaza River was just one of a series of bridges that the firm built utilizing the design-build approach. You can view Frank Salas' presentation via this link: Puente Zaza
The second webinar was Ingenieros de Diseño & Ingenieros Constructores. You can view that video via this link: Ingenieros de Diseño
ITESO issued a formal certificate of appreciation to Frank for his work.
