The following is a message from Maestro of the ACU, Jesus Leon.
Two words that define us: Esto vir. At the last meeting Nathan Bonet explained the biblical context and source of the words Esto vir (1 Kings 2:2), that they are part of our hymn, and that it's our motto.
As happens often, two important celebrations that Fr. Llorente would never let pass inadvertedly during the Lenten Season are the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Spouse of Blessed Virgen Mary (3/19), and the Annunciation of the Lord (3/25). Hence, this week we have selected two of these past homilies in order to be faithful to his memory.
Fr. Christian speaks to us about the relationship between a father and son. The joy and pride that a father takes in the achievements of their son and the same feelings that a son can experience in his fathers success.
The ACU Atlanta retreat held this past weekend (25-27 March) was excellent. Twenty men attended the retreat preached by Father Sáenz and held at the Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center. The participants included three young men and four men who traveled to Atlanta from Miami, Charleston SC and Los Angeles. Ignatius House is a wonderful center for retreats that makes it easy for those attending to withdraw from the daily disturbances.
The Miami Chapter held the March Guardia Sabatina this past Saturday, March 26th at the ACU House. Fr. Eduardo Barrios, SJ celebrated Mass. After Mass, Sergio Rodriguez led a reflection on the basic experience at the ACU and how to best promote a personal relationship with Jesus, devotion to Mary, and the bonds of friendship with Agrupados. Following the reflection, everyone stayed for lunch in the patio. The next Guardia Sabatina is scheduled for April 30.
This week, we share another Homily from Fr. Amando Llorente, SJ on the topic of Temptation. Enjoy!
Fr. Christian speaks about the differences between Divine Law and Natural Law. He tells us that God doesn't change His mind. When we receive laws from our Lord, they are perfect and will be unchanged.
The topic at last Sunday's meeting was spirituality at the ACU. The presenter was Jose Maria de Lasa, a former Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Abbott Laboratories.
